
About the Organization:
The Seal of Excellence for Poverty Outreach and Transformation is a global initiative administratively housed at the Microcredit Summit Campaign. It aims to recognize MFIs and other social development organizations which are doing the most to help families lift themselves out of poverty. By highlighting emerging good practices, the Seal creates a learning community of microfinance practitioners, networks, funders, policymakers, researchers, and others who want to see real, positive, and lasting change for poor families.
About the Job:
The Seal is looking for a Social Media and Communications Intern. S/he will be responsible for substantial growth of the Seal'€™s presence on internet based social networks. S/he will engage a broad range of stakeholders through stimulating and educational content on the Seal's blog and website. This is a part-time and unpaid position, it will start as soon as possible and run through the end of this year.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Produce and edit high quality content for the Seal blog, read current relevant articles and suggest a Seal commentary;
- Identify, manage, and grow the Seal’s presence on internet based social communities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.);
- Identify key metrics and track outreach through all channels;
- Research academics, researchers, and initiatives focused on microfinance, monitoring and evaluation, poverty outreach, etc.;
- Create marketing materials to promote the Seal at conferences, industry events, and online.
Qualifications:
- BA or equivalent degree required;
- Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media and internet communities;
- Familiarity with microfinance and/or other poverty reduction initiatives;
- Experience in engaging a diverse group of stakeholders, ideally in multiple languages and cultural contexts;
- Excellent research skills and ability to communicate findings to a broad audience;
- Self-directed and able to work well with little guidance and structure;
- Fluency in multiple languages a plus (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian).
