About the Organization:


New York University’s Financial Access Initiative (FAI) together with Bankable Frontier Associates (BFA) and the Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) is leading the US Financial Diaries Project. This project will track 300 families in four geographic regions in the U.S. over a year and collect highly detailed data on household financial activity. The study promises a timely and independent look at how low- and moderate-income households are managing their financial lives.

About the Job:
The US Financial Diaries (USFD) Project is looking for a Writer/Managing Editor. S/he will be responsible for working closely with the project team to develop and execute the publication of a set of written outputs such as white papers, blog posts, briefs, and reports. S/he will also work with the USFD communications director, as needed, to support the creation of multimedia outputs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Write first outlines and drafts of papers working closely with the lead researchers on the project;
  • Manage the entire print production process. Responsible for coordinating and leading content planning meetings, setting up schedules, tracking workflows, proof reading, and copy-editing of all content;
  • Coordinate conferences and presentations schedule and support development and submission of materials for such events;
  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research and analysis relevant to written and print outputs;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the USFD research coordinator or lead investigators.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required along with 5 years experience in journalism, web communications, publications development, and/or related areas;
  • Superior written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of personal financial services, economic development, and/or poverty alleviation in the U.S. a plus;
  • Proven project-management, copy editing, and proofreading skills.
