About the Organization:
Microcredit Summit Campaign (MCS) is a global anti-poverty campaign. It helps to bring together microfinance practitioners, advocates, educational institutions, donor agencies, international financial institutions, NGOs, and others involved with microcredit to promote best practices in the field, to stimulate the interchanging of knowledge, and to work towards reaching their goals. MCS seeks to reach and empower 175 million of the world’s poorest families with microloans by 2015.
About the Job:
MCS is looking for a State of the Campaign Report Interns. S/he will be assisting in data collection and outreach to supporters and member institutions. S/he will also assist with administrative tasks, communications, and research.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with member institutions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to encourage action plan submission, answer questions, and clarify data;
- Research areas for growth and targeting potential new member institutions;
- Review MFI portfolio data on an ongoing basis and aggregating results;
- Support outreach and promotional strategies on social media platforms and with major print and other media outlets in the US and internationally;
- Gather and compile materials for report-related informational and promotional use (e.g. photos for cover and website);
- Other office administrative support and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Able to commit a minimum of 24 hours per week. Preference will be given to those who can commit to 35-40 hours per week. S/he should be able to commit for a minimum of five months for the Fall semester;
- Proficient spoken and written English and Spanish and/or French required. Arabic and Portuguese are also useful;
- Highly motivated self-starters with a passion for international development, and particularly for reaching and empowering the very poor;
- Should not currently be enrolled in an academic program.
