About the Organization:
Developing World Markets (DWM) is an asset manager and investment bank dedicated to making socially positive investments in order to promote sustainable economic and social development on a global scale. DWM primarily invests in MFIs, which are economically sustainable financial organizations that provide small loans to low-income entrepreneurs, enabling them to create and sustain their own business.

About the Job:
DWM is seeking an Associate – Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA). S/he will help conceive and execute the firm's fixed income strategy for the region, assist the firm in the development and marketing of all the firm's products in EECA, and participate in the management of client relationships in EECA.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing a strategy to originate and execute on socially positive lending transactions throughout Eastern Europe (including Russia and the Caucasus) and Central Asia;
  • Build an EECA debt portfolio for DWM-managed investment vehicles designed to maximize social and financial impact in the region as well as profitability to the firm;
  • Originate, maintain and expand client lending relationships in EECA;
  • Perform due diligence, credit analysis, and financial analysis;
  • Prepare investment proposals for EECA debt transactions;
  • Assist in the development of new products for the region;
  • Plan and participate in regional marketing trips and attending conferences.

 

Qualifications:

  • College or Graduate degree, ideally with a financial or business related concentration. MBA or equivalent is preferred;
  • At least 2 years of experience in or with any of the relevant countries in investment banking, corporate finance, and/or deal-oriented financial analysis. Preference for experience in international development, socially responsible investing, and/or a local specialized microfinance rating agency;
  • Ability to conduct financial and credit analysis;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills;
  • Ability to represent the firm with potential and actual clients including extensive travel to the relevant countries;
  • Demonstrated social commitment;
  • Foreign language ability with preference for Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian, Albanian or Russian;
  • Proof of ability to work in the US.
