About the Job:
IRC is looking for a Women's Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Economic Specialist. S/he will be responsible for two areas of work:

  • working in multi-disciplinary teams to develop and support the implementation of social and economic programs;
  • Provide technical support in the design and implementation of social and economic programing that focuses on outcomes related to gender equality and reducing violence against women and girls.

S/he will spend the bulk of his/her time on program design, resource development, and implementation support.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Program model design;

    • Research new and proven economic and social programing approaches and models;
    • Lead and/or participate in cross-sectoral design teams to develop new and cutting edge economic empowerment programs that have targeted social outcomes;
    • Develop monitoring tools and systems to enhance program quality.
  • Resource development;

    • Develop resource packages to be used by field staff and larger humanitarian community in the area of social and economic empowerment programing;
    • Develop resource distribution plans and promote resources;
    • Conduct field visits and generate recommendations to guide WPE social and economic program models.
  • Technical advisor and field support;

    • Work with the technical advisors to ensure monitoring and ongoing support to field staff in the areas of social and economic empowerment programing;
    • Provide targeted training and capacity building to field staff in the area of economic and social empowerment programing;
    • Support field teams in data management and use data produced to inform WPE programing and advocacy.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Business, Economics or other related degree or equivalent programing experience;
  • At least 5 years of program management experience, preferably including at least 2 year implementing social economic empowerment programs in humanitarian context;
  • Demonstrated understanding of root causes and contributing factors related to violence against women and girls;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to successfully and effectively liaise with people in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Excellent Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, and database software;
  • Ability to work in French if required.
