About the Job:
MEDA is looking for a Team Leader – Financial Sector, Uganda. S/he will be responsible for delivering technical advisory services to Ugandan partners or MFIs and banks.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Managing a small local team of financial sector professionals;
- Designing technical support packages;
- Supporting financial sector market research initiatives;
- Leading collaboration with other components to build a stronger enabling environment for financial services;
- Research and development of new financial products and services;
- Management of the budget, reporting, and work plan.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Management, Economics, etc.;
- Proven track record of at least 7 years of experience preferably in Uganda managing large-scale programs in financial sector development, microfinance, access to finance, and/or private sector development;
- Experience in leading and managing high-caliber, multi-cultural teams, especially across multiple program locations;
- Technical knowledge of financial institution capacity building methods and « making markets work for the poor » approach;
- Demonstrated ability in mentoring and staff capacity building;
- Building relationships, coordinating diverse stakeholders, and interpersonal communication;
- Verbal and written fluency in English, with demonstrated technical report-writing abilities;
- Knowledge of DFID procurement procedures is an advantage.
