About the Job:


FINCA International is looking for an Information Taxonomy Consultant. S/he will assist the enterprise Knowledge management project team and the information and file management working group in FINCA's strategic global knowledge management initiative. S/he will play a hands on role in initiating and building key taxonomy and content data for FINCA's file structure that can be used at the corporate level, and that is relevant to the network of staff in all of FINCA's subsidiaries.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the FINCA enterprise knowledge management (EKM) project management team for architecture of taxonomies to support specific customer-facing functionality and program offerings;
  • Research and identify information from across the company which can be used to populate the taxonomies;
  • Research, identify, sources of raw data which can be used to accelerate taxonomy development. Work with developers to extract, process and load data from disparate sources;
  • Consult collaboratively with subject matter experts in various domains to gather knowledge from them, understand stakeholder needs, and review, refine and tune the taxonomies;
  • Utilize text mining tools to accelerate taxonomy development based on formal and informal terminology use in content;
  • Review and test customer-facing applications which will utilize the taxonomy, to ensure the quality of the taxonomy in providing an effective customer experience;
  • Mobilize a content curation program supporting the FINCA network by driving the design, implementation, and enhancement of scalable knowledge-sharing approaches that allow diverse subject matter experts inside and outside the company to readily contribute to the strategy and quality of an aggregated knowledge base organized around a shared knowledge graph;
  • Work with the EKM project management team to develop, document, and communicate guidelines, training, and documentation for structured content creation and tagging, and other forms of information gathering and contribution in support of the strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer, Library or other science. MLIS degree a plus;
  • Related professional experience in the financial services industry preferred. Minimum 3 to 5 years enterprise-level architecture experience;
  • Past experience in setting up electronic and paper management systems for a similar size and and scope of organization required;
  • Experience working in network type organizations;
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented person who will enjoy working hands-on with large scale linguistically oriented datasets;
  • Experience in implementing and managing 'enterprise' systems that effectively serve a variety of diverse stakeholder needs, yet maintain a user centric approach;
  • Experience in developing process documentation and in producing methodology guidelines;
  • Ability to be hands-on with technical tools for accessing and maintaining complex data sets;
  • Familiarity with conceptual data-modeling (taxonomies, ontologies, controlled vocabularies);
  • Customer service orientation;
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate sophisticated data-modeling concepts to audiences at all levels;
  • Experience with Smartlogic, TopBraid, MultiTes, Synaptica, SchemaLogic or similar taxonomy management software a plus.
